Portland Fashion Photography | Clair Vintage Inspired Fall 2011 | Shop Local: Union Rose

Portland Fashion Photography for Fall 2011 continues with my Shop Local shoot for Clair, and today, I get to highlight the woman behind one of my favorite shops, in one of my favorite neighborhoods.

Nicole keeps things humming as the owner of Union Rose, a cool boutique in the heart of the Montavilla neighborhood, and she goes out of her way to support local designers and stock their awesome creations in her shop. I don’t always get up to Montavilla as often as I’d like, but Union Rose has turned me onto totally excellent Portland creatives such as Seaworthy, and the shop also stocks Clair and other local favorites of mine, too.

Nicole also clearly believes in serving her shoppers personally and fantastically–on one of my very first visits to Union Rose, I fell in love with a dress that didn’t come in my size. When I asked her about it, she offered to contact the designer herself, and set up a special order to have one made for me that did fit. One of my favorite things about the Shop Local cause is having that kind of personal investment in and connection with the people behind the label, and Union Rose hugely supports that and leads by example. 🙂

Stay tuned for more from this shoot, including my own turn modeling in front of the camera for Clair! (yes, that actually happened.)
